about us
16 years ago when we rescued our first Japanese bobtail, our lives were forever changed. We had never heard of this exotic breed, but fell in love fast!
We lovingly raise Japanese bobtails out of Portland , Oregon and we can’t wait for you to meet our family!
A new generation of excellence; a new generation of Japanese Bobtails. Welcome to Kuriboh Cattery. <3
the queen and the king
CH KIDDLYN KIKU MASAMUNE OF KURIBOH
KIKU AKA "KEEK"
Kiku is our amazing Queen. Her incredibly splashy coat is why we get such splendid kitten coat varieties! She has the cutest little "trill & meow" and is the bravest cat of the house; she chases the vacuum around! Kiku loves to run and play and has unending kitten energy. No matter what time of day, she's always ready to pounce and fetch. Because Japanese Bobtails lack the undercoat that most felines have, Kiku's fur feels like feathers to the touch.
Kiku carries odd-eye and both short-hair and longhair genes.
CH YUKI-USAGI HOMARE OF KURIBOH
HOMARE AKA "HOMIE"
We were fortunate enough to pick up our stud, Homare, from Yukiko (Yuki-Usagi Cattery) while we were in Japan celebrating our honeymoon. He was so well behaved on the plane flight back and didn't make a peep. We thought, "Maybe Homie is a quiet cat?" Boy were we wrong! He loves to talk and sing all day! Not only that, he absolutely LOVES to be held until our arms grow tired. He is a constant stream of joy and makes us laugh nonstop. His favorite activity is fetching. We love Homare and we know you will too!
Homare carries odd-eye and both shorthair and longhair genes.

Thank you for everyone's love & support!!! 〰️
After many years of successful breeding, we’ve decided to sunset our cattery.
Many have already reached out to inquire why we stopped breeding and the short answer is we were presented a once in a lifetime opportunity to live 2 blocks off the Oregon beach.
(and of course said YES!)
That being said, our queen, Kiku, and her last remaining son, Motu (cream & white shorthair) are looking for their fur-ever homes.
Ideally we’d love to have them go together to a local family but are open to discussions.
We wanted to personally thank everyone who was involved in making this Japanese Bobtail dream a reality!

personality
our Japanese bobtails are very dog-like. we like to compare them to a traditional shiba inu. with the right encouragement, they can be taught to fetch and be leash-trained.
They love to sing and talk so get ready for some deep conversations.
Looking for a snuggle buddy? jbts love companionship and it shows!
jbts are attentive, active, and intelligent. It's not unusual to find them splashing their paws in water, carrying toys around in their mouth, or playing fetch. They are highly curious and love to explore.

The joy of jbt love
It’s hard to describe the amount of joy and love you’ll get from a jbt until you actually own one. jbts are great with families, children, and other furry friends. This inquisitive loyal breed, with a natural tendency to problem solve, will have you scratching your head; “is this a cat or a dog?” haha
